Project description: Design of an urban plaza and underground parking The City of Bogotá, under new zoning laws encouraged the design of new open spaces for both pedestrians and bicycle users, and at the same encouraged the use of public transport and underground parking near transit stations within the center core and highly congested areas. Our very first idea was to recover the outside public space, which is now an informal parking shabby. Our proposal seeks to give emphasis to the integration of existing museums in the area, continuing the pedestrian route between them, and consolidating the outside plaza as a cultural hub for the city. A green axis is proposed, as an extension of the adjacent Independence park. The two underground levels allowed the release and recovery of 9,277 m2 of open public space, in which squares for cultural events, wooded parkland, complementary retail areas and bicycle parking arise. The project has two underground levels, which in total have 329 vehicle slots, 110 for motorcycles, 167 for bicycles and space quotas for users with disabilities. The topography of the sector allows direct access to the two levels of parking, one from the Cra 7 and the other from the Cra 6, facilitating the entry from all surrounding areas.
