Project description: Design of an urban plaza and underground parking The City of Bogotá, under new zoning laws encouraged the design of new open spaces for both pedestrians and bicycle users, and at the same encouraged the use of public transport and underground parking near transit stations within the center core and highly congested areas. The project was also born from the idea of recovering public space, which is now an informal parking area located in a depressed but potentially high end district, north of Bogotá. Our proposal seeks to give emphasis to the integration of existing funeral homes in the area, continuing the pedestrian route between them, and consolidating an outside plaza as a pedestrian flower hub for the area. The two underground levels allowed the release and recovery of 15.398 m2 of open public space, in which squares for cultural events and a flower pedestrian mall arise. Also, a small plaza for meditation and contemplation was conceived in the middle of the open public space. This public space was conceived as a complement to the funeral sector activity by providing space for peace and premium meditation with the use of vegetation, water and stones. The project has one underground parking level. It offers 153 vehicle spaces for parking at street level and 359 underground. It also delivers 42 spaces for motorcycles and adjacent bicycle parking areas. Four points of entry and three vehicular exits strategically connect the road network of the neighborhood.   Work performed: Architectural design
